Baby Abandoned Beside Gutter In Kaduna

 A newborn baby boy stained with fresh blood was yesterday found abandoned beside a gutter on the race course road opposite the General Officers Commanding (GOC) residence and beside the Murtala Mohammed Square fence in Kaduna.A passerby, who gave his name as Sani, said he was passing when he saw a moving object wrapped in a cloth and called the attention of those selling fruit items to the scene and it was discovered to be an abandoned newborn.

The news drew the attention of many, including motorists, who parked their cars to see how wicked human beings could be, conceiving and delivering successfully and still had the heart to abandon the baby after delivery.

A woman who also came around the scene could not hide her emotions as she cried profusely upon sighting the new born baby, saying, “see how wicked people can be, some people are crying and praying for children, yet God has given to this wicked woman and she still have the heart to do this, may God forgive her” she prayed.

But for others rained curses as some of them who spoke in Hausa where heard saying, ‘Allah sine mata’ meaning ‘may God curse her.

It took the courage of a female journalists working with Core Television, who hurriedly picked up the baby boy whose umbilical cord was still intact from where he was abandoned, and another woman who volunteered her veil with which the boy was wrapped.

At the time of filing the report, the abandoned baby was in the custody of the police at a nearby police station for further investigations.
