Presidency, others to spend N517.9m on meals in 2015

The Federal Government is proposing to spend  N517.9m this year on meals and refreshments for the Presidency, the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, ministries of power and petroleum as well as their parastatals.The amount is contained in the details of the 2015 budget breakdown, which was obtained by Punch correspondents in Abuja on Sunday.
Out of the N517.9m, a provision of N174.54m was made for refreshments and meals for the State House in 2015.

Indian Police arrest four Nigerians over internet fraud

The Hyderabad police in India on Saturday January 3rd arrested four Nigerians including a woman over internet fraud. The police said they recovered a car, money and mobile phones from them
The accused, Peter Austin (29), Eboh Felix (26), Steffi Ebohon (24) and Uzaonicha Daniel Iwenwanne (26), reportedly contacted a student named Mohd Wasiuddin, and told him he's won some money. The police said the gang managed to convince the unsuspecting victim to deposit money for registration, customs clearance, processing fees and other expenses.

Channels TV Terminates Pastor Bakare’s Broadcast Over ‘Critical Comment’ On Nigerian Govt.

Channels Television, a Lagos-based independent 24-hour news station, on Sunday suddenly terminated a broadcast by fiery pastor, Tunde Bakare, over claims the tone of the message was critical of the Nigerian government, Premium Times reports.Moment of Truth, a one-hour recorded paid programme, through which Mr. Bakare broadcasts messages he preaches in his church, The Latter Rain Assembly, runs every Sunday on the Lagos channel of the station, between 5p.m. and 6p.m.

Father Christmas arrested for defiling 5-yr-old schoolgirl in Lagos

 At a Christmas party or­ganized by a nursery and primary school in the Ojodu-Abiodun area of Ogun State,the joyful event turned awry after a five-year-old pupil from the school complained that the Father Christmas dipped a finger in her vagina and blood came out when she went in for her gift
The matter was reportedly incidented at a police station in the area following which the said Father Christmas was arrested penultimate Friday and later released on bail. He was thereafter mandated to report to the station last Monday.

President Jonathan Loses Sister

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has lost his youngersister, Mrs. Nancy Jonathan-Olei.
According to a statement by Reuben Abati,Mrs. Jonathan-Olei passed away earlier today at a hospital in Yenagoa after a brief illness. She was 52 years old.
Burial arrangements will be announced later by the family.

Gen. Buhari’s certificate is not with us’ : Nigerian Army

APC Presidential candidate, Buhari said he could not tender any of his academic certificates before INEC because they were all with the Military board and not at his disposal.The army has contradicted that claim, saying the do not keep the certificates of any serving or retired officer or soldier. A military source told Vanguard;
    "The Army can not keep anybody’s original certificate because it is the personal property of the owner. The original certificate of any officer or soldier is only needed at the point of entry into the service either as a cadet officer entering the Nigerian Defence Academy, or the recruitment officers when interviewing recruits to be sent to the depot for training. That is so, because they are needed to verify what were in the photocopies supplied by them or from the necessary examining bodies.”

    "Let me tell you now, in the Navy, the Navy Secretary, keep the documents of all Naval officers and ratings and not their original certificates which are their personal property."

American woman accuses Reno Omokri of identity theft

 An American woman has accused President Goodluck Jonathan’s special assistant on New Media, Reno Omokri, of impersonation and identity theft. Mr. Omokri had used the now infamous moniker, Wendell Simlin, in his attempt to link the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Lamido Sanusi, to the terrorist group Boko Haram.Back in February 2014, Mr. Omokri wound up in a scandal after digital footprint of an article that tried to link the spike in Boko Haram attack to the suspension of Mr. Sanusi as CBN governor was traced to him.Mr. Omokri allegedly used the pseudonym, Wendel Simlin, in the article circulated to bloggers and journalists but the document digital signature was identical to previous documents Mr. Omokri had sent to PREMIUM TIMES.

ISIS fighters 'have contracted Ebola'

The World Health Organisation is investigating reports that ISIS militants have been showing up at an Iraqi hospital with Ebola.According to three media outlets an undisclosed number of militants displaying signs of the disease attended a hospital in the ISIS-held city of Mosul, 250 miles north of Baghdad.
While the reports, from Kurdish and pro-Iraqi sources, remain unconfirmed, WHO spokesman Christy Feig said the group are trying to reach out to officials in ISIS-held areas to offer help.

A child kidnapper identified as Bola Adeshina (pictured above) has been arrested by the Abuja Police command for kidnapping a 5 year boy identified as Ahmed from Sagamu, Ogun state. According to Punch, 31 year old Adeshina kidnapped the little boy and was on his way to Kaduna to deliver him when he was arrested at the Utako motor park in Abuja following suspicious movement.
The Commissioner of Police for the FCT, Wilson Inalegwu, while confirming the arrest, said Ahmed has been reunited with his family in Ogun State while Bola will be charged to court accordingly. “The suspect will be arraigned in court as soon as sitting resumes. Meanwhile, the child has been reunited with his parents" he said.

President Jonathan to broadcast New Year message to the Nation, 7am

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan will deliver a new year’s day broadcast to the nation at 7am
The broadcast will be transmitted on the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN).
Other television and radio stations in the country are advised to link up with NTA and FRCN to relay the broadcast to their viewers and listeners.
