THE first official portrait of Kate Middleton has provoked mixed reactions today with Royal fans slamming the painting for making her look OLDER.
The artwork by award-winning artist Paul Emsley was commissioned by the National Portrait Gallery and, following her suggestion, depicts her natural persona.
The Duchess called the painting "amazing" at a private viewing this morning.
But the piece showing Kate's head and shoulders set against Emsleys' trademark dark background failed to impress art fans on social networks.
