City boss Mancini reacted furiously when Balotelli, 22, left a team-mate in a heap with a mistimed challenge.
The fiery Italian confronted his fellow countryman, grabbing and shoving him, before Balotelli was restrained and led away by a member of the club's coaching staff.
Mancini must now restore the peace before City host Watford in the FA Cup third round on Saturday
