The 14ft animal caused chaos after it went on the run from a touring circus.
It galloped free for four hours, frightening pedestrians and damaging cars and
lorries in the small town of Imola in northern Italy.
The giraffe’s bid for freedom ended sadly. It was shot with a tranquilliser
dart but collapsed and died of a heart attack as it was being shepherded
into a waiting lorry.
