The pop culture power couple proudly hosted an Obama fundraiser Tuesday night for his re-election campaign, and both the President and his wife Michelle were on hand to shake hands, make small-talk, and collect some big-time checks. The evening wasn't all electioneering and political brown-nosing; President Obama addressed the crowd of 100 to talk about his family, the hosts, and the common ground between them.
After Beyonce thanked the attendees, who paid $40,000 per ticket, and introduced Obama by saying she believed in his vision, the President took the stage at Jay-Z's 40/40 club in Manhattan to express his gratitude. "To Jay and Bey, thank you so much for your friendship. Beyonce could not be a better role model for my girls," he said too much applause.
But the positive crowd reaction went to another level when Obama joked about Beyonce and Michelle's similarities. "Jay knows what my life is like. We both have daughters, and our wives are more popular than we are. So, you know, we've got a little bond there. It's hard but it's okay."
