The road accident took place along Ruwa Wuri -Tangaza road in Sokoto State. Many cows and sheep were also said to have died in the accident.
A witness said the accident occurred on Monday when the driver of the
trailer with registration number SOKOTO XA 443 SAA lost control and
plunged into a river close to Masallaci village in Tangaza local
government area.
It was learnt that the trailer which was
conveying cows and people was coming from Mano village and going to
Warri in Delta State. The driver of the trailer and his motor boy were
said to have fled.

Commission for Sokoto Dr. Umaru Aliyu confirmed the incident, saying the
accident was as a result of over-loading and over-speeding.
Also,
six persons died and 25 others were injured in two separate road
accidents in Narabi village in Toro local government area along
Bauchi–Jos road and Awalah Junction in Bauchi metropolis.
Though
Bauchi FRSC could not confirm the deaths, villagers in Narabi village
said six people died on the spot because of the security check point at
the border between Bauchi and Plateau states.
