The eldest son of the Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido,
Aminu Sule, who was arrested at the Mallam Aminu Kano International
Airport (MAKIA),
Kano on Wednesday for failure to disclose $40, 000 at
the airport on his way to Egypt was freed on administrative bail and
released from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission (EFCC).
The Commission spokesman, Mr Wilson Uwajuren added that charges are
being prepared against the suspect and he would be charged to court at a
later date.
It was gathered that the EFCC were unable to arraign Aminu Sule as
there was no judge of the Federal High Court available to take his plea
as most of them were attending a Judges’ Conference in Abuja.
In the meantime, Governor Lamido, in a four-paragraph sentence, has
risen to the defence of his son saying the attempt by the anti-graft
agency to link him with money laundering was mischievous, as his son was
on a medical trip to Egypt.
