The Lighting of the Nigerian National Christmas Tree by the Nigerian first lady, Patience Jonathan, scheduled for Tuesday, has been postponed to Saturday.
The event will now hold on Saturday at the Unity Fountain, Maitama, Abuja.
No reason was given for the postponement, but those close to the
first lady’s office said it may be due to the helicopter crash of
Saturday that killed the governor of Kaduna State, Patrick Yakowa; and former National Security Adviser, Andrew Azazi.
The Nigerian National Christmas Tree is an initiative of the Ministry
of the Federal Capital Territory, and will be holding for the first
time ever.
Mrs. Jonathan had earlier cancelled a thanksgiving service scheduled
for Sunday, following her return from Germany where she went for medical
treatment.
President Jonathan had also cancelled an emergency Executive Council of the Federation, FEC, meeting scheduled for Tuesday.
Nice one... I am really impressed.
