Police explains rise in female suicide bombings in Nigeria

The Nigeria Police Force spokesperson Frank Mba has given an insight into the recent rise of female suicide bombers in Nigeria.
Addressing newsmen at the National Information Center yesterday, Mr Mba said Boko Haram men now use women because they raise fewer suspicions.
    "If you have been following the trends of terrorism worldwide, you will understand that use of female suicide bombers is actually not totally new.

Landlady’s children cut tenant’s private part

The alleged attack took place at Popoola Street, off Abaranje Road in the Ikotun area of Lagos and was said to have happened as Offehun was sleeping with his family in his room. The tenant was said to have attacked by the landlady's children over a disagreement he had with their mother, who'd asked him to vacate her compound immediately

Doctor who treated Ebola patients dies from the virus

The Sierra Leonean doctor who treated more than 100 Ebola patients has died. Dr Sheik Umar Khan (pictured above), who was hailed as a national hero for disregarding his own health and helping sick patients, died today July 29th from the disease after being diagnosed with the virus last week. He contacted the virus despite wearing protective gear when treating patients.
In an interview last month, the 39yr old doctor had expressed fears for his life because of his constant contact with Ebola patients.

We have insiders in commercial banks' suspected fraudsters confess

 The Lagos State Police Command has arrested three suspected fraudsters identified as Kola Osho, Oyedepo Adesola and Kola Ademola, who allegedly specialize in withdrawing money from people’s bank accounts using dud cheques.
According to Punch, the police said the suspects usually obtained the cheques from people who are experts in stealing cheque books from unsuspecting people, then they will present the cheques to their insider in the bank, who will dubiously verify the account holder and the signature before the money could be paid out.

3 ECOWAS staff, Nigerian ambassador, 55 others had contact with Lagos Ebola victim

 59 people including the Nigerian Ambassador to Liberia, Chigozie Obi Nnadozie are said to have had direct and indirect contact with the late Liberian man, Patrick Sawyer, who died on Friday July 25th from the Ebola Virus in Lagos.

Lagos Hospital Where Ebola Victim Died Shut Down

The Lagos State government has shut down and quarantined First Consultants Hospital in Obalende where a Liberian, Mr Patrick Sawyer with Ebola virus died last week in Lagos.
“We have shut the hospital to enable us to properly quarantine the environment. Some of the hospital staff who were in close contact with the victim have been isolated. The hospital will be shut for a week and all staff monitored to ensure the virus has not spread,” the Lagos State Health Commissioner Jide Idris said.

Ebola Virus:Lagos State is looking for those who boarded same flight with dead victim

Since the death of the Liberian,Mr Patrick Sawyer, who died in Lagos from the Ebola Virus,the Lagos State Government said  it had identified no fewer than 59 people who had contacts with him.
Dr Jide Idris, the Commissioner for Health said 20 of the contacts had been screened and that none of them had so far been found to be infected with the virus.

Liberian Man With Ebola Virus In Lagos Dies

Mr. Patrick Sawyer, a WASH consultant at the Ministry of Finance, who had been quarantined since falling ill after arriving in the Nigerian state of Lagos for a conference last Sunday, has died, allafrica.com says.

3 Indian men suspected of raping and hanging 7-year old girl mobbed (Graphic)

Three suspected rapists  were mobbed resulting in the death of one  today by villagers in India who accused them of raping and hanging a seven-year-old girl.
According to the Hindustan Times,the girl who got missing last night  was discovered hanging from a tree near the village of Kaliabazar, West Bengal, this morning and angry villagers quickly rounded up a local 'Tantrik' holy man/witch doctor and his two friends.The trio were mercilessly beaten. One later died in hospital and the two others are still being treated.

Speaking at the Police Headquarters along Ahmadu Bello Way, Ilorin, the commissioner told newsmen that the two suspects were arrested with human head, leg and hand in Tabira village, Okuta in Baruten Local Government Area of the state.

Governor Oshiomhole sacks two new Perm Secs over lateness

Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole reversed the appointments of two Permanent Secretaries for coming late to their swearing-in ceremony yesterday,According to Channels TV, the two appointees along with 18 other would-be Perm Secs were expected to have been seated at 12 noon for the swearing-in ceremony which was billed for 1pm but when the Governor arrived at 12.23pm, the two men were not there.
Oshiomhole started the ceremony immediately and went ahead to swear in the 18 Perm Secs present. When the other two eventually showed up, Oshiomhole refused to swear them in, reversing their appointments. Appeals from the men and others around fell on deaf ears.

Deadly Ebora Virus Confirmed In Lagos Hospital

 The Lagos State Ministry of Health said a Liberian man in his 40s is being tested for the deadly Ebola virus in Lagos.
On July 14th, the Lagos state government issued an alert to residents of the state over the deadly virus currently sweeping through some west African countries, including Liberia.
Details on the outcome of the test is still being expected. This would be the first recorded case of one of the world's deadliest diseases in Nigeria.

Algerian Plane with 116 people on board goes missing after take off from Burkina Faso

An Air Algerie Flight AH 5017 which took off  this morning from Burkina Faso's capital Ouagadougou has lost contact with traffic controllers.This happened 50 minutes after take off..
The company said in a notice posted on its website that the aircraft took off from Burkina Faso and was supposed to land in Algiers at 0510 local time but never reached its destination....
