Buhari, Osibanjo Declare Assets

 President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo have declared their assets, as required by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The Code of Conduct Bureau has acknowledged the submission of President Buhari’s and Vice President Osinbajo’s assets declaration forms submitted separately on May 28.
The Nigerian Constitution states in Chapter VI Section 140, that a person elected to the office of President shall not begin to perform the functions of that office until he has declared his assets and liabilities as prescribed in the Constitution.

US Vice President Joe Biden Loses Son

 Beau Biden, the 46-year-old son of Vice President Joe Biden, died Saturday after a battle with brain cancer. The Biden family announced the news around 9:45pm last night.
In a statement, the Biden family said: ‘It is with broken hearts that Hallie, Hunter, Ashley, Jill and I announce the passing of our husband, brother and son, Beau, after he battled brain cancer with the same integrity, courage and strength he demonstrated every day of his life.’
Biden, who lived in Wilmington, Delaware, served as a major in the state’s National Guard, and later as the Delaware Attorney General.

Oil Marketers agree to call off strike with immediate effect, to begin lifting of petrol in six hours

Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria, MOMAN, have reportedly agreed to call off their strike action over unpaid subsidy claims and commence lifting of petroleum products nationwide in the next six hours.The oil marketers agreed to call off their strike at a meeting with the Chairman, Senate committee on petroleum resources, Magnus Abe, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, ‎ Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, MD of NNPC Joseph Dawha and other stakeholders in the oil and gas sector in Abuja today May 25th.

'I don't give a damn what Obasanjo says about me' - Atiku

Former VP Atiku Abubakar said he doesn't care what his former boss, president Obasanjo has to say about him. When asked about the so many not-too-complimentary things Obasanjo wrote about him in his book, ‘My Watch’, Atiku replied
    "You know, really, I don’t give a damn (about) what Obasanjo says about me.
Asked whether the former president scuttled his political career/presidential ambition, Atiku replied;
    As far as I am concerned, Obasanjo may believe that he scuttled my presidential ambition, but I believe it is about God. If God says I will be president, I will be president; if he says I will not be president, I will not be president. Let’s forget about Obasanjo.

Sharon Osbourne collapses at her home due to exhaustion

Sharon Osbourne has collapsed at her home in Los Angeles from exhaustion and will take a one month break from her CBS show, The Talk. A spokesperson for Sharon said that the 62-year-old's doctors say she is suffering from 'extreme exhaustion.'
    'Sharon has been advised and has agreed to take a month hiatus to recover fully from these recent events,' her rep said. 'Sharon would like to thank everyone at The Talk for granting her this time off and to all friends, family and others for their incredible support.'

Two cousins of President Jonathan reportedly kidnapped in Bayelsa

Two cousins of President Jonathan, Patience Egbeni and Kate Eni were kidnapped by 6 unidentified gunmen dressed in military uniform in Akimpelai, Ogbia LGA of Bayelsa State yesterday May 19th.
According to a source who spoke with The Nation, the women who are maternal cousins of President Jonathan were abducted at about 8.30am from their provision stores located along the riverbank.
    “The victims are two maternal cousins of the President. We know that they have been preparing to welcome the President after the May 29 handover. Unless they are rescued before then, their dream of welcoming their brother will be a mirage.”the source said

Adamu Mu'azu resigns as PDP Chairman

PDP Chairman tendered his resignation letter this morning May 20 and his resignation is said to be with immediate effect.
According to reports Muazu said he was tired of all the stress he has been subjected to since the party lost the presidential elections. Ayo Fayose and Femi Fani Kayode have called for his resignation and that of other National Working Committee.
A PDP member confirmed Muazu's resignation on twitter and also claimed that Jonathan has asked members of the PDP Board of Trustees including Chief Tony Anenih to resign

Petroleum Tanker Drivers embark on strike

Petroleum Tanker Drivers Association have decided to stop the lifting of fuel from petroleum depots across the country.
The body leadership sent out a stern warning to its members to stop lifting petrol from all depot.
    "Comrades/unit chairmen/executives, you are directed to suspend all loading activities in all the depots as from Monday, 18th of May. There will be severe sanctions for any chairman/others that does not comply.” the message sent to the members of the association read.
No reason was stated. However industry players say the tanker drivers are protesting the non-payment of their transportation fees owed them by the oil marketers. The oil marketers in turn claim they cannot pay the tanker drivers because of the N200 billion subsidy arrears owed to them by the federal government.

   

President Jonathan signs N4.425tn 2015 budget

 President Goodluck Jonathan has signed the 2015 Appropriation Bill into law, THE PUNCH has authoritatively learnt.Investigation by our correspondent on Monday revealed that Jonathan decided to sign the budget into law a couple of days back without fanfare.
There have been concerns among Nigerians on whether Jonathan will sign the budget before May 29 when he will formally hand over to Muhammadu Buhari or he will leave it behind for the incoming administration which is believed may still prepare a supplementary budget.

President Jonathan sacks NIPS boss

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has approved the appointment of Mrs. Uju Aisha Hassan-Baba, as the new Executive Secretary/Chief Executive of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC). Mrs. Hassan-Baba takes over from Mrs. Saratu Altine Umar who has been relieved of her appointment as the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive of NIPC with immediate effect.
The new Executive Secretary/Chief Executive had served previously as Director-General, Legal Aid Council of Nigeria, Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice in Anambra State and Director, Legal Services, Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment. President Jonathan thanks the out-going Executive Secretary/Chief Executive for her services and wishes her well in her future endeavours.

Jonathan has not given me any useful tips- Buhari

President-elect Muhammadu Buhari says the outgoing Jonathan government hasnt given him any advise on how to kick-start his administration on May 29. He made this statement on Thursday when a committee from the Centre for Human Security of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, presented a five-point policy document to him at the Buhari Support Organisation office in Abuja.
Hours before the event which held behind closed doors, the All Progressives Congress, accused the Federal Government of not cooperating with the transition committee set up by the President-elect.

PDP National Chairman Sick, Flown Abroad

 The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Adamu Mu’azu ​is sick and has been flown abroad. Though he was flown out of the country last week, his office kept mute about it, until Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose on Monday accused the PDP chairman of travelling out of the country for medical treatment during the election period without informing the president. He also insists he is sick and challenged him to deny his many allegations.

FG awards N31bn Niger Delta road contracts

 Barely 15 days to the end of the present administration’s tenure, the Federal Executive Council on Wednesday approved four different roads totaling N31billion for the Niger Delta.

A High Court has ordered the eviction of former Governor of Anambra State, Senator Jim Nwobodo from a mansion he is living at the high-brow Maitama District in Abuja. Former Central Bank Governor and now Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II who blew the lid on the missing NNPC money has reviewed the recently released PWC auditors report on the missing NNPC money. Two Nigerians sent to 12 years in prison in Vietnam for email fraud

A Vietnamese court has sentenced two Nigerian men, Christian Nnadike, 34, and Collins Deke, 37, (pictured above) to 12 years each in a Vietnam prison for hacking into emails of local companies, contact the company's foreign partners and swindle them of their money.
The men along with a Vietnamese female accomplice, Le Thi Kim Quyen, 35, who was sentenced to 15 years in prison and another Nigerian, de facto husband of the Vietnamese lady, Mark Mamado Abdallah, 39, who is currently at large, ran a scamming syndicate in Vietnam.

Nnamdi Azikwe’s First Son Passes On

 Chief Chukwuma Bamidele Azikiwe, the first son of the first President of Nigeria, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe is dead.
Chukwuma passed on at the Borommeo Hospital, Onitsha, in the early hours of Sunday. Details about his funeral would be announced later in accordance with the Onitsha customs and tradition.He was 75years old..May his soul rest in peace.

OJB's kidney reportedly collapses again


Popular Nigerian music producer and singer, Babatunde Okungbowa popularly known as OJB is reportedly on admission at the General Hospital, Lagos following a relapse of his kidney ailment.
OJB, who had a successful kidney transplant in India last year, had a relapse two weeks ago, this is according to a report by Yes! International magazine.

South African man raped at gun point by 3 women so they could steal his sperm

A South African man has told how he was kidnapped and raped by three women in Cape Town. The 33 year old man, whose identity is being kept away from the media, said the women had stopped him in their car to ask for directions and as he was talking to them, one of the women brought out a gun, and forced him into the back of their black BMW and drove away.

    "My pastor always says dress well no matter the job you do, so I decided to wear a suit. Some laugh at me, others encourage me and are willing to help me"

    "I make 100% profit. I think it is because of how I dress, people notice me easily and want to buy from me," Mr Nartey said.

Customs officials shocked as scanner reveals boy hidden inside a suitcase

Stunned customs officials scanned a small item of luggage and found a young boy hidden inside.
X-ray images capture the moment the youngster was caught on camera tucked up in the trolley suitcase as he tried to get into Spain.
The luggage belonged to a 19-year-old woman who police became suspicious of after noticing she was becoming nervous.
They pulled her to one side and, believing she may have been smuggling drugs, scanned her luggage - only to find something much more shocking.
An outline of a young boy was clearly seen and officers immediately opened the bad and pulled out an eight-year-old boy.

UK repatriates three Nigerian prisoners to Nigeria

The UK government earlier this year repatriated three Nigerians in UK prisons under the prisoners exchange agreement signed by the UK and Nigeria. The prisoners are now serving time in a Nigerian prison. This was made known today by Nigeria's Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, during a Q&A with journalists in Abuja. "The prisoners exchange agreement is in place and the United Kingdom has repatriated three Nigerians in the UK prison since January this year and  more prisons would also be transferred. The programme would continue after the exit of this administration, there is a committee in place to ensure the sustenance of the programme,” he explained.

  There was chaos at Iguodala Primary School in the Uhunduhun Oredo LGA of Edo State after a freshly dug grave with blood sprinkled on it was found in one of the classrooms on Monday May 4th. According to Punch, the Head teacher of the school, Mrs Georginia Ilongwo said the students and their teacher returned to their classroom after the morning assembly when they found the grave and immediately raised an alarm.

FG downgrades Asaba airport, declares it unsafe for travelers

The Federal government has downgraded and declared Asaba Airport in Delta state unsafe for travelers. In a statement released by the Federal Ministry of Aviation today May 5th, the Aviation ministry stated that the airport facility was downgraded and declared unsafe due to the failure of the Delta State government to fix key infrastructure such as undulating runways as well as provision of perimeter fence at the airport as directed by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.
     “The Federal Government has downgraded the Asaba Airport over the failure of the Delta State government to put in place measures that would guarantee the safety and security of passengers using the airport.” the statement in part reads

     President Jonathan has approved the appointment of Mrs. Asabe Asmau Ahmed (left) as Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Equalisation Fund (PEF). Mrs. Ahmed, who is currently the Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development, takes over from Mrs. Sharon Adefunke Kasali (right) who has been Executive Secretary of PEF since 2007. The new PEF Executive Secretary hails from Niger State and holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, respectively.
